A historical reenactment of an immigration case that reached the Supreme Court in the 1870s.
Chinese women travelling without husbands were detained at the Port of San Francisco as “lewd women”, raising issues of immigration and federalism that went all the way up to the United State Supreme court, in a case that also touches on sexism, racial profiling and human trafficking.
