Women’s Human Rights – Migrant and Domestic Violence Victims: A Roundtable Discussion

The speech focused on Goal 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals and Gender-Based violence (GBV).

Gender equality and gender equity are commonly used interchangeably but have different meanings—the same problems for violence against women and girls (VAW) and GBV.

GBV and VAW and girls are often used interchangeably in the literature. However, there is a difference. GBV, by definition, is broader. GBV highlights the dimension of violence. The term GBV refers to the abuse inflicted upon an individual because of his or her gender.
