The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (the ECCC) is charged with bringing to justice senior leaders and those most responsible for atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge during its hold on power between 1975 and 1979 in Cambodia.

The role of the Defence Support Section is to ensure fair trials through effective representation of the accused.
